Job Description: 

  • Prepare current and deferred tax calculations, tax accounting journal entries, return to provision calculations.
  • Communicates with businesses to request appropriate information as needed.
  • Reconcile tax accounts.
  • Analyze entity ledgers for Section 901 foreign tax credits and calculate overall foreign tax credit.
  • Support tax return and reporting information, such as Schedule M book to tax analysis
  • Develop detailed analysis supporting computations of U.S. federal, state taxable income & U.S. international, financial, and estimated tax schedules, work papers and documentation.
  • Extract and analyze information from financial accounting groups and ledgers and develop process improvements to streamline and mechanize existing procedures.
  • Follow departmental review procedures, practices, and instructions in preparing U.S. tax returns, reports and filings.
  • Demonstrate the highest professional and personal ethical standards, including following Bechtel’s Vision, Values and Covenants.
  • Conduct U.S. tax research and escalate tax risks or ambiguities to the attention of U.S. supervisor.
  • Support U.S. federal and state income and franchise tax audits as assigned, including Internal Revenue Service or state Information Document Request (IDR) responses, coordinating all responses with U.S. supervisor.
  • Participate, as assigned, in any requested tax special projects, with an openness to learn various types of tasks and processes.
  • Support the preparation of U.S. tax related information materials for management presentations, as assigned.
  • Participate in training and career development, as authorized, including U.S. tax technical training, professional continuing education, Bechtel University online courses, and progress toward job-related professional certifications.
  • Actively coordinate with U.S.-based team members, leads and U.S. supervisors, adhering to internally imposed and statutory deadlines, as well as provide regular status updates.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Knowledge of Uncertain Tax Positions (FIN 48)) and related valuation analysis.
  • U.S. Federal and multistate corporate tax return preparation (Form 1120 preparation).
  • U.S. Federal and multistate S Corporation and partnership tax return preparation(Forms 1120S and 1065 preparation).
  • US foreign informational form preparation (IRS Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 8975 & 8621)a plus.
  • Strong GAAP accounting and tax accounting skills.
  • Motivated for continuous learning of unfamiliar or evolving areas of US taxation.
  • Quantitative orientation with curiosity and critical thinking, including ability to askquestions about why results come out the way they do
  • Modeling and “What If” skills required.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and think of more efficient ways to achieve same result.
  • Superior Excel proficiency required.
  • VBA for Excel and general programming skills a big plus.
  • Familiarity with ACCESS type databases and SharePoint a plus.
  • Experience in tax return software (OneSource, BNA fixed assets or other tax preparation/depreciation software) required.
  • Experience in Oracle and Oracle Report Writer (CFAR) a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works very well in a virtual team environment.
  • Highest ethical standards.
  • May require occasional travel to U.S.
  • Flexibility needed to attend teleconferences early or late in the day, and possible work a specific shift to better coincide with U.S. working hours.
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing and BEPS requirements a plus.
